Speaking at
the event, Dr.Babalola of the English Department, Obafemi Awolo0wo University
advised the students on the ‘personality and carriage with good communicative
ability’.
“Lawyers
should not be smokers and drunkards. If you are, you are destroying your
personality. As a lawyer, you must guard your personality because with your
personality, good carriage and good communicative skills, you can make people
do what they cannot do for others, nevertheless, don’t forget accuracy”
Dr.Babalola
stressed that a good lawyer should not be careless, “How far you go in your
profession depends on your level of language, you must be sure of your facts, train
your voice because a good lawyer would not fidget”.
He further
implored students to listen to good lawyers, imitate them because the way we
pronounce makes people want to listen to us.
The former
dean of the faculty who was the special guest of the occasion commended the
class for organizing such a programme and authoritatively labelled the class, ’THE
GOLDEN SET’. He further stated that because of this historic event, he would
give the Golden Set full support for any subsequent programme.
